Apple has two problems that could solve each other

I’ll keep it brief

Apple is facing a critical challenge due to two major issues. One, its AI (Apple Intelligence) ambitions demand more resources than expected, as demonstrated by the significant delay recently announced for the rollout of an improved Siri and other features.1 Likely as a result of Apple allocating significant resources to AI, its software quality is declining, and numerous bugs are frustrating users. Two, global trust in U.S. tech and with it in Apple is eroding rapidly due to geopolitical concerns—especially in the wake of Trump’s impact on U.S. credibility.

I propose a bold solution

Apple should establish a second headquarters in Europe, hiring and training a developer workforce on par with that currently working at its HQ in Cupertino. This would expand Apple’s development capacity massively and allow it to improve software quality. At the same time, a second HQ outside the U.S. would also allow Apple to rebuild global trust.

Am I serious?

Yes. Since November ’24, and at an accelerated pace since trumps inauguration, I’ve seen post after post on social media by people investing time and money to move away from U.S. services. A blog post that stands out was the well written „How I’m Building a Trump-Proof Tech Stack Without Big Tech“ by Joan Westenberg.
