iMessage UX-Patterns on Mac

iMessage on Mac is chaotic.

  1. When scrolling to the right on a message with a trackpad, the editor switches to reply-mode for this message. When Scrolling right on an audio message, the message fast forwards.
  2. Two finger tapping on a message often does nothing, until it does randomly happen to work. Control-clicking on a message opens the contextual menu like it should: reliably.
  3. And bonus: Clicking on a specific point on an audio message or attempting to drag the invisible playhead to a specific playback position doesn't do anything, while tapping on an audio message on an iPhone moves the invisible playhead to where you tap.

Dear Apple, I would very much appreciate it if iMessage for Mac was to adopt more macOS like UX patterns. On desktop, I have a cursor I can use to precisely click, please make use of it. Please consider redesigning Messages for Mac to be a true desktop style app.
