Changes
Besides some significant changes happening in my life right now, I also feel like introducing some changes to my digital presence.
Tone
I’ve decided to make some changes around here. Writing online as a little tech-gremlin grumbling about the decisions of politicians and companies just isn’t how I want to contribute to the internet. I intend to blog about things that excite me, about the good stuff, and try to find a positive spin on the things I’m right now writing grumpy texts about.
What about my old stuff?
This leaves me with a decision to make: What do I do with the posts I’ve written so far? I could delete, hide, or leave them. As I think breaking links is bad, option one is a non-starter. I’ve done that in the past, when I migrated domains from wenzels.blog to stairjoke.ninja, and I didn’t like doing that then. Part of me still regrets it, but the reason I deleted some posts was that I just did not consider them worth reading. It's different this time; I consider my grumpy posts’ content valid, but I don’t like how they probably make my readers feel.
I’ve decided to “unlist” them. That means they will continue to exist, their URLs will continue to work, but my CMS will not include them in my RSS feed, the posts-list, or the navigation. I’m also planning to add a disclaimer to them, eventually.
Appearance
I’d prefer a modern and more colourful look. Right now, the site looks a little like a mix of a 2000s website and a digital-book, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I’m not feeling it any more. One day, I will have the time and energy to work on that.
Content Choices
In the past, I wrote in response to outside stimuli. Something happened in the world, I commented on it. That’s fine, and such posts will continue to happen. Besides that, though, I feel like writing about my own ideas more.
